HANOI, February 25, 2011 -- USAID joined the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry today to recognize 14 local and international businesses for hiring large numbers of persons with disabilities, many including well over half of their workforce, through the Blue Ribbon Employer Council supported by USAID since its formation in 2007. USAID has provided $46 million for persons with disibilities since 1989 in such areas as employment, medical care, better living conditions, and in support of the Government of Vietnam's efforts to create an enhanced legal framework for disabled citizens.
