DA NANG, April 6, 2012 -- A new training package targeting Vietnam's more than 7 million smallholder poultry farmers was unveiled today in Danang at a presentation workshop for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development representatives, provincial leaders and agricultural extension experts from Vietnam's central region as well as representatives of international development partners and other local and international organizations.

HANOI, April 3, 2012 -- MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking), today announced the return of the MTV EXIT campaign to Vietnam with a nation-wide initiative to combat human trafficking through a series of live events, TV programming and youth engagement activities. The flagship event will be a massive live concert at Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium on May 26 featuring international modern-rock sensation, Simple Plan.

National Geographic Film Raises Awareness of Wildlife Trafficking in Southeast Asia

HANOI, March 29, 2012 -- A National Geographic Channel documentary film about the work of a government task force trained with support from USAID to combat transnational endangered species trafficking was screened at the Hanoi Press Club on March 29, 2012. "Tiger Traffic" portrays ongoing investigations by law enforcement agencies collaborating with conservationists to stop one of Asia's largest tiger trafficking syndicates. The screening and following question and answer session with investigators featured in the film helped ignite discussion of how civil society and government can cooperate and increase action to tackle wildlife trafficking, which is robbing Southeast Asia's biodiversity. This screening and discussion forum was organized by the USAID-sponsored Asia's Regional Response to Endangered Species Trafficking Program.

Vietnam identifies more than 1,200 tuberculosis cases with help from the U.S. government: World TB Day events highlight successes in TB control

HANOI, March 22, 2012 -In the lead up to World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24, local health departments across Vietnam are celebrating their achievements in controlling TB and planning for future activities. Since 2007, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with funding from the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has been supporting TB control activities that bring the public and private sectors together to improve case detection and treatment rates in Vietnam. The project has identified more than 1,200 TB cases out of about 5,700 suspected cases in Hai Phong, Nghe An, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City.
